Running Accessories That Will *Totally* Make You Faster

If you use these 5 running accessories correctly, they actually just might help you become a faster runner.

There are a lot more things you can add to your everyday running outfit than your shoes. So if you’re looking for a way to make it better, easier, or (let’s be honest) less painful, here are five running accessories that might make you feel good after every run.

1. Running socks

No, not just regular socks. Running socks. If there’s one running accessory that you actually need, it’s these.

You’ll actually feel a difference when you start using socks designed specifically for running. For one thing, they aren’t made of cotton, which would normally absorb moisture and heat, making your feet feel heavier.

Secondly, running socks have different features that offer support while you run. They are made with breathable material, they typically have extra padding at the toe and heel, and some even offer added compression to help blood circulation.

Once you start using running socks, you’ll wonder why you didn’t invest in them sooner.

2. Fitness tracker

One of the most popular running accessories is a fitness tracker. There are many different kinds on the market today, like the Apple Watch, FitBits, Garmins, and a lot more.

While they are relatively pricey, you do get a lot from what you pay for. Most fitness trackers have a lot of features that you can benefit from.

For instance, most of the models on the market have GPS trackers, so you can track your exact run distance. A lot of them also track how many calories you burn, your heart rate, your breathing, and sometimes, even your cardio fitness levels.

If you want to get technical about it and be completely aware of your fitness, this is worth the investment.

3. Portable water bottle

Next, we have something a lot more affordable. Portable water bottles.

These can come in a lot of different shapes and sizes. Some of them are collapsible, some are just very lightweight, and some, you can actually hang onto your hip while you run.

Take your pick. But just remember that it’s important to stay hydrated. And, especially if you run very long distances, this should be a go-to.

4. Running belt

One of the most functional running accessories is a running belt. These are stretchable belts with a zipper-pouch that you can wrap around your hip and keep with you as you run. They are very lightweight and are usually sweat-resistant.

Having a running belt allows you to carry necessities with you when you hit the road or the trail. You can take some cash for emergencies, a credit card, or your phone.

These are especially useful if you like running with music. You can keep your phone in the belt instead of a pocket or holding it in your hand.

5. Cap

Finally, and of the most simple but effective, is a cap.

Living in the Philippines, we’re no strangers to the sun. And while we love getting the tan, the sun sometimes can make us feel more tired than we actually are. We feel you.

A cap keeps the sun away from your eyes, making you feel cooler (even when it’s scorching hot out). For long-distance runners, especially.
