Football Legend Gareth Bale to Compete in Star-Studded Golf Event

Just two weeks after announcing his retirement from football, former Real Madrid star Gareth Bale revealed that he will be competing in a pro-am golf competition.

Whenever a star football player retires, fans immediately speculate on what the next step of their career will be.

Will they become a coach? A pundit on TV? A manager?

Luckily for Gareth Bale fans, he didn’t leave too much time for speculation. Only two weeks after his retirement, he has already announced his next move: a golf competition.

The Wales football legend revealed that he will be competing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am competition from February 2 to 5.

Bale’s fans have always known about his love for golf. Even as a football player, he would publicly talk about his interest in golf.

In fact, he once posed with a banner that read, ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In That Order.’

This didn’t exactly sit well with the Real Madrid fans at the time, given that he ranked golf above the team.

But now, as a retired footballer, he is free to enjoy golf as much as he wants to.

Competing with the stars

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am competition is a PGA Tour event, which comes with a hefty prize of $9 million.

However, it won’t exactly be an easy route to reach the prize pot, as up to around 156 golfers will be competing in the PGA event. Included in the roster is the British professional golfer and US Open winner, Matt Fitzpatrick.

Along with the pro golfers, several stars and celebrities will also grace the event with their presence, such as Gareth Bale himself.

In addition to the former Tottenham and LAFC player, Hollywood actors such as Bill Murray and Jason Bateman will be playing at the PGA event, as well as famous artist Macklemore.

With such a star-studded cast, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am competition is expected to draw many spectators.

And now, with Gareth Bale coming into the golf scene, will we be seeing more football fans turning into golf fans too?
