Alex Eala qualifies for the Miami Open as a wild card

Alex Eala to See Miami Open Action with Wildcard Entry

Entering as a wildcard, Alex Eala will be competing in the upcoming Miami Open alongside top-ranked tennis champions.

Filipina tennis star Alex Eala will be joining in the action at the Miami Open for the third straight year, as she earned a wildcard spot in the main draw of the tournament.

At the Miami Open, which is WTA 1000 tournament, Eala will be joining the same playing field as other elite female tennis players, such as World No. 1 Iga Swiatek and World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka.

Similarly, the 2021 US Open Champion, Emma Raducanu also received a slot in the tournament, entering as a wildcard.

The Filipina competed in the past two editions of the Miami Open. However, she only managed to reach the qualifiers in 2021 and the Round of 128 in 2022.

As she enters the main draw this year as one of the seven players under the WTA Main Draw Wild Cards, Eala will be targeting a better campaign, especially given her recent focus on the professional circuit.

This announcement also comes off the heels of her recent W60 Slovakia stint where she reached the Round of 32 in the women’s singles category, and the semifinals of the women’s doubles.

As one of the major tennis tournaments on the women’s circuit, the competition at the Miami Open will prove to be stiff for Alex Eala, but will nevertheless be an incredible opportunity for the budding young talent.

The Miami Open action will start on March 19 and play until April 2 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.
