Archie Carrasco, Chairman and CEO of AGC Power Holdings Corporation (AGC PHC), won yet another award for his outstanding innovation in business.
At the special gala dinner in Penang, Malaysia last October 20, the prestigious award-giving body for entrepreneurial excellence gathered top innovators across industries such as mining, food and beverage, real estate, and finance, among others.
Among all the top entrepreneurs at the event, Archie Carrasco was named champion, as he was awarded Master Entrepreneur for Media and Entertainment at the Asia Pacific Enterprise Awards (APEA) 2022.
Navigating through adversity
The Asia Pacific Enterprise Awards are the most prestigious accolades for entrepreneurs across the Asia Pacific. In line with this, their award recognition program aims to recognize entrepreneurial and corporate excellence, especially in those who show incredible innovation.
Through their program, they have been able to empower innovators and businesspeople since 2007, with over 2,000 members.
This year, APEA’s theme was inspired by entrepreneurs who have steered their businesses through the era of COVID-19. In the Chairman of Enterprise Asia, Dr. Fong Chan Onn’s opening speech, he emphasized that responsible entrepreneurship became a key driver in paving the path to positioning Asia at the top of the worldwide economic reset.
With this, Archie Carrasco was awarded with honor by Penang’s Head of State, His Excellency Ahman Fuzi Abdul Razak, for his success in building one of the most influential media conglomerates, AGC PHC, during the pandemic.
Purpose over profit
AGC PHC began with a single homegrown publishing company, One MEGA Group, Inc. (OMGI). From this, he spearheaded the creation and success of more diverse subsidiaries. From Digistar PH, home of digital movers, to 7640, a full-scale production house dedicated to local music and video content, and of course, to Mega Global Licensing, Inc. (MGLI), a global media powerhouse that houses Nylon Manila and Vogue Philippines.
Through his success in growing AGC PHC, especially during an economic drought brought about by the pandemic, Archie Carrasco has shown that to become a champion, innovation is key. And, honored with the most prestigious award at the event, Carrasco still continues to pay tribute to his guiding principle of “Purpose Over Profit.”
“When your intention is pure, magic happens naturally—and the right path to your purpose becomes clear. This is what this award means to me and my entire team: affirmation that the energy and passion that we pour into our work is leading us towards a higher purpose,” Carrasco expressed.
For the champion, leaders should be attuned to how their actions can serve others. Ultimately, AGC PHC is a testament to that belief. Through the corporation he leads, not only is he successful in heading a big media conglomerate, but more than that, he has created multiple channels for Filipino creatives to express their talents.
With this, Archie Carrasco has proven that honoring purpose, especially in trying times such as the pandemic, will win the game.
